Welcome! I am Sonia Ramirez, a licensed social worker in the state of New Mexico and a native Spanish speaker. My family, like many others, immigrated to Albuquerque from Mexico in 2002. Since then I have grown close to New Mexican culture and have experienced working with diverse families, including supporting immigrant families who are navigating challenging family dynamics that often accompanies immigrating. I am passionate of the use of play therapy concepts as supports to empower children to process their experiences.
My extensive experience working with children is specific to address anxiety, trauma, depression, grief, suicide ideation, adjustment difficulties, as well as complex family dynamics. I aim to address these symptoms through a collaboration with caregivers and children to provide a greater understanding of symptoms and proactive ways to address the root cause of symptoms.
My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe environment for children and caregivers to learn and grow.
Currently, Sonia has a waitlist for new clients.
