Shelby Bobelu has earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Relations from University of New Mexico in 2014. She also earned her Master of Social Work from New Mexico Highlands University in 2016. She is also certified in Substance Abuse Assessment and Treatment from New Mexico Highlands University in 2016.
She has over seven years of experience using EMDR for survivors of trauma, anxiety, and depression. She worked with those struggling with addiction issues, anxiety, and depression through different modalities including CBT, DBT, MI, EMDR, and other strengths based interventions. It is fulfilling and rewarding for clients and myself when they feel more empowered and able to work through their struggles more confidently. Most are struggling with various forms of trauma, anxiety, depression dysfunctional family dynamics , self esteem issues, self medicating, burnout, trouble developing healthy relationships at work and in their personal life, grief, and loss of loved ones.
She utilizes psycho education, communication skills, assertiveness refusal skills, cognitive reframing, cognitive challenging, DBT, exploration of emotions and coping skills, exploration of relationship patterns, building healthy interpersonal relationships, life-skill building, mindfulness integration, deep breathing, role playing, and problem solving with clients. They will be able to notice a change in their quality of life. They will have a more positive outlook, and be more able to handle stress in their life. She has been told she’s fun and energetic especially with the younger population as we learned to work through online sessions. She is casual, calm, a compassionate listener and soothing especially with clients. She is also respectful and professional in collaborating with others. Her passion is to empower others to reconnect with finding their authentic identity and strengths.
