Chavonne A. McClay, LCSW (she/her)
Founder and Clinical Director
Chavonne McClay (she/her) is a Black, queer, fat woman who has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2013. She lives with her family in Albuquerque, NM, on occupied Tiwa territory. Please consider paying monthly rent for the tribal land that you occupy.
Chavonne holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in social work. Chavonne is the founder and clinical director of Whole Self Counseling, a social justice-informed therapy group practice that empowers people of color to radically improve relationships with themselves and the world around them in order to live with authenticity and joy. She is also the co-host of a podcast, “Embodiment for the Rest of Us”, which empowers listeners to radically improve their relationships with their bodies and food while dismantling weight stigma in all of the intersectional aspects of society. Throughout her career, all of Chavonne’s work has focused on the mental health of members of the global majority (aka BIPOC folks) as well as all folks focused on healing relationships with body, food, and self within a framework that centers and holds those living in marginalized spaces and bodies. When not working, Chavonne enjoys reading, long walks (on the beach when she’s lucky), decluttering, shuttle tatting, reading and watching stodgy British mysteries, and trying to prove that profanity is also a love language.
Because it takes a lot of time and energy running her dream practice, Chavonne does not see clients. But you’ll see her around the office all of the time, so please feel free to say hello!
