Esperanza Flores (she/her)
Mental Health Therapist

Esperanza Flores (she/her/hers) (POC/Chicana) earned her BA in Psychology and Sociology from UNM in 2018. She earned her Master of Social Work from Western New Mexico University in 2022.

She has experience working with children and adults, the LGBTQ+ community, families/individuals that have been impacted by child welfare and the legal system, survivors of DV and trafficking, those who live with disabilities, those who struggle with symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, schizophrenia, and other stigmatized diagnoses.

Esperanza feels deeply connected to issues surrounding intergenerational trauma, grief processing, oppression, and impacts from the carceral and “larger” systems in society. Her approach is grounded in empathy, active listening, a collaborative mindset, and of course recognizing the strengths that each holds within themselves. The practices she integrates into working with others include cultural humility, motivational interviewing, TF-CBT, narrative and storytelling, bibliotherapy, duality, value identification, and non-western traditional healing such as creative expressions. All with a whole person, client-centered approach woven in with strong threads.

Esperanza is dedicated to creating an environment where others feel heard, understood, empowered, and supported in working towards their own path to healing and discovery to promote and improve their quality of life.

Aside from work, she enjoys continuously learning about new things from new recipes to learning about evolving identities and the in-between topics! She enjoys expressive writing, sipping a cozy cup of coffee, outdoor adventures, and spending time with her loved ones.

She has and continues to learn the most by talking with, working alongside, and serving others. She believes that every individual and family are experts of themselves, their world, and their experiences. You are welcome here, please come as you are.
